The author is a swiss-american R.N. and she wanted to maintain the cozy feel of the original HAND-MADE prototype.
This was a big challenge for mass production, see here why:

• Each calendar has to be assembled by HAND.

• All pages are egg shaped. One page per week.

• The pages get progressively larger as the baby grows.

• Smallest egg (page) is about 4x5 inches and largest egg (page) 10x14 inches.
  (this makes the calendar layered)

• Each page has a single ACTUAL SIZE baby illustration on the front and a reduced size baby
  with the NEWS from the WOMB text bubble and space for notes on the back.

• Each illustration shows an average size baby for that week of pregnancy.

• The inside FRONT COVER has instructions and the first 7 weeks of pregnancy.

• The inside BACK COVER has a space for a photo or Ultrasound image of the baby.

• Some illustration show changes when they first occur for example:
  thumb sucking, opening of eyes.

• All pages and covers are bound together with a pink and blue ribbon. (made of fabric)

• A special antique brass HOOK and nail comes with each BABY-EGG™ for easy wall hanging.

• The new edition will also have a purple book ring enclosed if you prefer not to hang it on the wall.

• You can also snip the ribbons and use a magnet to place the individual pages on the fridge.

• The illustrations are pencil OUTLINE drawings. This shows best the actual size of the baby.

• Once a week you flip a page and view the new baby image for the entire week.

• Children especially like to hold the illustrations up to mom's belly.
